Clinicopthologic Study on Adeonomyosis

Abstract
This is a retrospective study of 54 adenomyosis among 304 consecutive hysterectomies was identified clinicopathologically at Seoul Red Cross Hospital during 3 years from Jan. 979, to December 1981.
The results obtained were summarized as follows:
1) 17. 8% incidence of adenomyosis in 304 consecutive hystrectomies:
2) Adenomyosis affects between 22 and 67 years but most frequently 5th decade, parous woman.
3) Adenomyosis affects mostly parous woman, especially 3-4 parity.
4) Nearly one-sixth of. 54 pt. have no symptoms, dysmenorrhea menorrhagia, pelvic pain, abnormal uterine bleeding were most, common symptoms of adenomyosis an incidence of 53%, 7%, 51.9%, 48.1%, 40.7%.
5) At bimanual pelvic examination, uterine enlargement was showed 2/3 cases of adenomyosis.
6) Preoperative diagnosis was myoma (53.7%), chronic PID (l3%), adenomyosis (9.3%), uterine prolapse. (7.4%o), etc. Only, 5. of. 54 pts (9.3%) showed preoperative diagnosis of adenomyosis.
7) Co. associations ns with other lesions were chronic cervicitis, myoma,, ovarian cyst; an incidence of 81.5%, 22.2%,14.8% respectively.
8) The endometrium showed proliferative, secretory3 sloughed, and incidence of 26%, 24%, 13.0% respectively.
9) 50 of 54 pts. (92.6%) were performed TAH. 4 of 54 Pts, (7.4%) were performed TVH.
